ADVENTURES OF TNT: To Mexico

Our trip was a great time and we are very glad that we went. Travelling with the boys was really good. From where we live in BC its tough to fly anywhere for a reasonable price, so we had to first drive to Vancouver to hop on a charter flight to Cancun. It all started out a little badly after we had a bit of a scare on Wednesday/Thursday when Trev couldn't find his passport, we tore the house apart for hours and finally found it mixed in with some kids books in our bedroom. Trev was 15 minutes away from driving to Trail to get new photos taken, we had a appointment at the notary booked and the hotel for Vancouver was waiting for confirmation, when I found it. After that we left on Friday for Kelowna where we planned to visit and stay overnight, as opposed to driving 8 hours straight and then flying the next day.

On Saturday we travelled to Vancouver, hit up Ikea, and checked into the Fairmont at the airport. They have a pretty reasonable park and stay deal. That was a great idea to stay there as our flight was at 7am and we had to show up at 4-5 am. With the car already parked, it was easy to just grab the bags and walk down to the airport. The boys loved the room as it had a view of the international terminal and all the planes parked ready to load.

We had a crazy amount of luggage, 4 MEC duffel bags and 2 playpens, 2 carry on backpacks and a diaper bag. When we arrived at the resort, the concierge jokingly asked what we forgot. Our flight was very good. The boys were pretty excited to go on the plane, they behaved very well and really liked watching the TV's. When we landed in Cancun it was a bit crazy as 3 planes all landed at the same time so going through security was a crazy long line. Once we boarded the bus to our resort the boys were done. They slept the whole ride to the resort which was about an hour while Trev and I enjoyed a few cervezas.

The resort was great, small and very quiet. Perfect for families with young kids. No drunken partiers, no line ups or waiting for a table for food, huge rooms, a kids club with a playroom and toys. Easy. I wouldn't go here as a couple as it had no social life or entertainment, but for us and the boys it was perfect. We'd wake up everyday, go for breakfast, go to the beach and pool, walks on the beach, hang out until lunch, grab a bite and then go back to our room for nap time, Trev and I would take the baby monitor to the pool and pool bar, then dinner and bed. Repeat for days. Sounds boring but nothing is boring with Cole and Grayson. It was so nice to be able to just hang out with them without having to worry about all the other things in life like cooking and cleaning. We had planned to not leave the resort and go on any excursions. We thought it would just be a waste of money with the boys being so little.

Unfortunately one night we left our camera at the bar, and had to kiss that goodbye. As a result we had to take a trip to the Evil Empire in Playa del Carmen. The day started out cloudy, then turned sunny after we had done our shopping. We had lunch on the beach, the most relaxing one of the trip really as the boys were completely preoccupied with their new trucks and buckets and could play in the sand right beside our table. Playa was nice but very busy, compared to where we were north of Playa del Carmen. The boys thought it was pretty great to go in the taxi without car seats. New camera in hand we tried our best to recreate some of the good photos, but a $200 camera from Walmart doesn't quite cut it.

The rest of our trip was great, not too sunny, not ever all cloudy, great temperatures, if we could afford it we'd do it again in a heartbeat.
