Camping weekend take #2

Since our first camping weekend of the year was flooded out and a pretty rainy affair, I figured we should try again for our beach camping weekend. I booked it back in July, the only way to get a good site at Kokanee Creek, hoping Trev would be around and we wouldn't have to cancel.  Unfortunately although we thought he was starting work on Sept 7th, he was called when a spot came up to go early, leaving on the 22nd.  Said call unfortunately came on the 21st, giving us one day to organise our lives.  We are lucky to have such a great, flexible and amazing woman to take care of our kids.  I considered cancelling the reservation, but since we had been so close to going, the boys were excited to go and well, "whatever I thought, lets go".  It was either that or the same old around here anyway.  It took me days to get ready with a mishap on Thursday that really threw a kink into it all.  But that was another story.  I managed to have the car packed and ready to go when I picked the boys up from daycare on Friday afternoon.  We drove straight out, which they slept the whole way. Arrived in plenty of time to set up, go to the park, and beach before dark, and this time it wasn't all under water.

The night went well, the boys slept pretty good but it was cold.  Winter jackets and tuques all around in the morning.  We went for a walk to see the kokanee spawning waiting until it warmed up enough to go to the beach.

Give this kid a cherry and it'll be all over his face

By noon the weather had warmed up enough to head to the beach.  We hung out for hours.

We went from the beach to the park to the beach to the park.  Over and over because the boys we obsessed with the tetter totter.  They liked to bump each other and do sky highs.

There were a few wipe outs, but no one got really hurt.  For dinner we headed into Nelson for Thai food, the boys are all about the red curry.  We had a fire when we got back and roasted some marshmallows and then they went to bed and i read a book.  Pretty relaxing.  The next morning we had to pack up and head home, we weren't in any rush though.  We went to the park in the morning to play and then packed up and headed to the Redfish festival at the visitor's centre.  The were having a bit of a festival in honour of the spawning kokanee, with all kinds of kids game, face painting and tours

Hot chocolate in the morning, yes please

Then we headed for Nelson to do the boys favourite thing, ride the trolley
