Day 1 Trip to Utah

For a few months now we have had a trip to Moab, Utah planned.  We are going mountain biking in Moab for 7 days, staying with friends and their child, in a townhouse, complete with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, double car garage.  The plan is to alternate riding and adventures with 4 year olds in the surrounding national parks.  I have always wanted to go south to the four corners area,  I never really thought I would do it with 4 year olds, but when our friends said lets go we figured why not.  Next year there will be school,  hopefully work for both of us, and probably a little bit more responsibilities, so this is the perfect opportunity.  On top of that the first big round of colder, poor weather has hit Rossland, the first snow a few days ago and lots more to come, so perfect timing to head south where its still 20 during the day.

Our first day we drove to Bozeman MT, a big day.  8 hours and 41 minutes according to google map.  Luckily we bought 2 portable DVD's a while ago and the boys watched 3.5 movies and made it the whole way without too many complaints.  We arrived in 10 hours which is pretty darn good with 2, 4 year olds.  Yeah Cole and Grayson!  The weather was pretty crappy that day which always takes away from appreciating the view, but we vowed next time we would stop and check out the area around Lookout Pass, Smelterville and Silverton, and hopefully one day the Hiawatha Trail (rails to trails with long tunnels).  As usual Butte MT surprises me with the unique rock formations and juniper forest, just a small taste of what is to come.
