For once on our trip we had a short drive to our next destination, a mere 2 hours to Zion National Park. The drive through Zion was amazing, with big, steep rock faces, checkerboard like sedimentary deposits in the stone, and red and whiteish rock. The highlight was driving through a couple km long tunnel, carved straight through the mountain. The boys liked that a lot.
It was like dropping down into another world after that, lusher, greener, more trees, and much warmer temperatures, up to 75 degrees. We drove through the park with the intention of returning the next day and headed to Springdale. What a beautiful tourist town, we found our hotel, put on shorts and t shirts and went for a ride around town. We didn't last long and ended up at a sports bar for food for the boys and beers for us. We got a great tip from the bartender about trick or treating in Rockville 6 miles away. So we returned to our hotel, grabbed the kids costumes and headed to Rockville.
First we dropped into the community centre for the halloween festivities, food, games and prizes, then out for trick or treating on the dark streets. It seems everywhere in Utah the have no street lights, so its dark. On Hallowe'en that means people have to step up the lights for trick or treaters. People had lots of pumpkins, lights, and paths lined with paper laterns. One house was very cool, and was owned by local grocers. The boys were bold, running to peoples door, and so excited. It was awesome.

Our night ended with all the candy getting dumped on the bed, taking out all the peanut candy from Grayson's bag for Trev to eat. Cole wanted to try some with peanuts, tried a Snickers, then complained he had a sore throat, started crying, we tried drinking milk, water, ju jubes, but when he was still complaining I thought maybe its an allergic reaction to. He had some Benadryl, said he was better and passed out. Then suddenly he woke up projectile vomiting an hour or so later, all over the bed and sheets. Once that was done he was fine and like new in the morning. Ah Hallowe'en ending in vomitting, a parents dream! Just kidding it was the best one yet and best of all, the kids shared their candy with us, no objections.
