After months of waiting while it pours down buckets outside summer is finally here. June and July have been pretty cool and wet this year, and thus a bit of a bummer summer. Things have been looking great since the last weekend in July when Chris, my mom and the kids came for the August long weekend. The boys and I were pretty excited about grandma and auntie and the kids coming, and once they were finally here for the first time in the new big house, it didn't disappoint. Cyrus was the absolute best sweetest cousin. He is so sweet and gentle and caring towards the boys. Love that kid. He played with the boys non-stop and for the first time since they were born they have left me for longer than 10 minutes to play. All because of Cyrus! Acacia was fabulous too and really liked all the space to explore. They arrived on Friday just after I showed up from work.
Early Saturday morning we packed up 2 cars and headed to Creston to pick our cherry tree. Although the cherry season was a bit of a bummer this year. We got less than 30 pounds on a tree that yielded 90 lbs last year and 120 lbs the year before. We got to meet Trev in Creston and hadn't seen him in 10 days. Chris and the kids were great picking the tree, Cyrus and Acacia right up the ladders picking. It was fun. The cherries we picked were a little too early and not as ripe as usual, but all we do is cover them in chocolate anyway, so a firmer cherry might just work out. It was so busy though, that all weekend I missed out on many photo ops.

We hit up the beautiful city park beside the farmer's market, and tried to maximize our Trevor time ( he wasn't coming home with us), but by 1 pm we were on our way back to Rossland. We had a blast in the amphitheatre in Creston with all 4 kids running at full speed and jumping into whoever had their arms ready to grab them. Usually Trev's thank god. Cole was wild, just jumping in the hopes that someone would catch him before he dropped 4 feet through the air to the grass.

Of course the wildness continued when we arrived home. We threw together what we could manage for a nice dinner for Chris for her birthday amongst all the chaos of 4 kids vs 3 adults.
Sunday we went to the lake for the morning and played at the beach. Chris and the kids went to Castlegar to visit friends and in proper summer fashion everyone was bagged by the end of the night. It was a bit of musical beds to find the best spots for everyone in the new house, and I think we've figured out the best system. Sadly even though it was a long weekend, it wasn't long enough and everyone had to head home on Monday. Best cousins ever!
