We have received 45 cm of new snow in 48 hours or so. That brings the snow pack up to 115 cms around here. Avalanche conditions are pretty dodgy with lots of new snow and some high winds. North facing slopes are especially dangerous with a rain crust deep in the snow pack and lots of wind loading throughout the storm. It was the girls turn again and the trail breaking was really hard. We headed out to do some mellow Kneegrinder runs. The skin out there was so nice, beautiful light for some nice photos.

As beautiful as the walk out to Kneegrinder was the ski was a little ridiculous. The snow was so deep and terrain so moderate that Rachel and I basically straight lined and poled our way down Kneegrinder to the river. Once at the river we hit the boys skin track from Day 1 and followed it up the river towards our Ptarmigan skin track. We had a slight detour to the boys line from the night before to look for their radio and after a few minutes of poling around in the 20 cm s of fresh Rachel hit the radio just under the surface. Yahoo, that saved us hundreds of dollars, now if we could find Trev's ski all will be back to normal. We skinned a little further up the river and found Brian and Layton. They were headed our way to see if we found the radio as the handheld Brian had wasn't working very well and he needed to talk to Trev, as they were rebooting the hydro system due to frequent brown outs and loss of power.
We then started back up our skin track through Ptarmigan trees to the alpine. With 28 cms of fresh on top of our last tracks it was a slow slog. Nice to have the line picked out already, but it still felt like breaking trail all over again through 30 cms. We hit the alpine, deskinned and ripped down two great runs through the trees before heading back up to dinner at the lodge. The skiing is getting better and better by the day. We skied the exact same two lines we had skied earlier and they had clearly filled in more and were much deeper. Thank god we are from Rossland and experienced at skiing tight trees otherwise it would be a little challenging under these conditions.
