Christmas 2010

Christmas was crazy.  Take our regular loud and crazy family and add two more, Trevor's brother Drew and his wife Shelley, and it is even nuttier.  I was cancelled by post it note for work on Friday the 24th, which suited us just fine.  Instead of starting our drive to Vernon Christmas Eve at 5 pm, we arrived in Vernon by 3 pm or so.  Drew and Shelley had already arrived by 2 that afternoon and Chris and the kids were off at Silver Star at Tube Town, skating and watching the fireworks.  Next year we'll be there too.  Bedtime came quick enough and we all sat around talking and wrapping presents for the rest of the night.

Christmas morning started pretty early when the boys got up at 6:30.  Cy and Acacia were pretty excited to dig into the presents so we waited for everyone to get up and then opened all the gifts before breakfast.  This xmas was really fun for us.  Although the boys didn't really understand Santa and the giving, they loved ripping open the presents.  It was great just sitting back and watching the kids, you just didn't care at all what was there for you.

Excitement over sweat suits!

The kids all had a great time, got wonderful gifts, and then we all had pancake breakfast.  When the boys went down for a nap, Drew, Shelley, Trev and I went for a walk to Kal Park.  Although it wasn't a beautiful day and pretty grey, it was nice to get out.

By 3 pm the boys were up and running around like crazy, Nanny and Papa arrived, no tears this time from the boys, and the eating began.  Of course my mom made a huge turkey dinner with amazing food.  It was kind of a gong show as the boys wouldn't eat, or sit in their chairs, and then they wanted to and then they wanted down.  It was loud and crazy, but everyone did get to sit down together and eat for a little bit.

The best pictures out of 10 or so, I love it

There isn't much snow in Vernon usually, so we brought the boys bikes.  My parents live on a dead end street so we figured the boys would have fun outside on their push bikes.  Grayson was still walking and pushing, and Cole is sometimes sitting on his seat and pushing with his feet.  Going down the hill to the cul de sac, Cole even balanced a bit and got going pretty fast.  He was proud of himself.  They mostly biked through the puddle at the bottom of the street and got wet.

Merry Christmas to all and here's to a Happy New Year.
