Day 10 Problems on the Beaver River side

Boys day out.  New storm has brought us 30 cms so far.  The guys decided to go check out the Beaver River side of the ridge.  While they headed out in crappy weather to ski trees on the other side, we busted out the hot wheels track and had a riot with the boys.  We then went outside and shovelled.  Grayson and Layton are into shovelling, Cole not so much.  They tried on Layton's little skis and walked around a bit.  Before we went outside Trev called to say he had lost a ski, and was looking for it.  When I came back in from outside with the boys which is usually 10 minutes or so I called him on the radio to see if they needed Rachel to bring a ski.

The day just wasn't meant to be.  Ten turns down their first run, Trev stopped to watch Brian ski down. Once Brian passed him, Trev started skiing again, his ski popped off and was gone.  He dug for 2 hours and couldn't find his elusive ski.  Brian skinned back up to the ridge, and Rachel left from the lodge with one of Trev's other skis, as he brought 2 pairs just in case this happened to someone.  Somehow Brian punched himself in the lip with his pole and split it in two, and while dropping back in to give Trev a ski, they kicked off an avalanche nearby and decided that they would call it a day back there.  They all came back to the lodge by about 2 pm with the intention of sewing up Brian's lip, but we found no stitch kit in the first aid room so had to use sutures instead.

I went and did some caretaking duties of shoveling the propane tanks out, the path to the heli pad, the heli pad, and the path to the chalet, sauna and sewage treatment plant.  It was nice to be outside alone.  When I came back inside at about 4 pm the guys had decided that they would go ski a mellow Kneegrinder, figuring they'd be back within an hour.  The snow was so slow, the skiing so slow and the trail breaking through 20 or so cms meant that they weren't back for 2 1/2 hours.  They had a good time skinning around in the dark with headlights,  but in the process dropped a radio at the bottom of Kneegrinder.

Meanwhile at the lodge, the kids were cranky, and hungry.  I was trying to make dinner for everyone and take care of all three kids while Rachel did some work.  Luckily Rachel came up in time for Layton to poop himself and she had to give him a bath.  By 7 we were trying to eat dinner, 3 kids were whining and complaining because they were tired and I just wanted a giant glass of wine.  By 7:30 all the kids were in bed and we had a nice night playing cards.  Boy what a day!
