Day 6 Mechanicals on Porcupine

Day 6 was back to the guys day again. Their plan was to ski the big bowl on Porcupine Mountain. They skied a Kneegrinder to the river and said the snow was much better and faster than on Day 1. They then put in a skin track up the ridge to the top of Porcupine Mountain. They were both having a terrible time with their climbing skins, with neither of them sticking to their skis.  Kind of difficult to go uphill without skins, so a lot of time was spent trying to warm them up in their jackets.  Eventually they made it up and after checking out the stability on top, they dropped in. Although the snow was spectacularly lovely powder, with only 90 cms or so on the ground around here they hit many rocks on their way down, and Trev even wiped out mid slope and popped out of both skis. He found them easily and skied the rest of the slope down without anymore mishaps. They climbed back up the south facing slope in warming temperatures, ready to both take of their shirts, and skied back down the the creek and back to the lodge. It was another great day, we consider ourselves very lucky with beautiful weather, snow and stability.
